  The Counseling Center's Multicultural Specialist, Monica Mikhaeil, M.A., LPC, NCC, runs a drop-in support service called Mosaic Dialog. This service is a supportive space for students of color of Gustavus Adolphus College to explore and discuss their unique, challenging experiences and concerns with a therapist who will provide support from a culturally responsive lens. Challenging concerns may include cultural adjustment, toxic relationships (roommate, friendships, romantic, family, etc.), sense of inadequacy, academic distress, microaggression, or social isolation, just to name a few. Discussions are 15 minutes at length and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

  Facilitated a 1 hour workshop that is offered multiple times throughout the academic year. Student clients leave this workshop able to define various types of grief, understand the unique difficulties of grieving in college, understand the grief process, and learn several coping skills to aid in the grieving process.

  Presented training for Gustavus Adolphus College faculty on "Trauma Informed Classrooms."The John S. Kendall Center for Engaged Learning supports faculty in achieving their potential as teachers and scholars. Responsive to the professional needs and interests of each faculty member, the Kendall Center includes support for teaching initiatives and faculty research, scholarship, and creativity, and provides on-campus opportunities for focused conversation on pedagogy, assessment of student learning, and collaboration among colleagues. Through its support of such opportunities, the Kendall Center fosters the pursuit of teaching and scholarly excellence throughout all stages of each faculty member's career and for all Gustavus students.
