Mona initially trained as a scientist and then became interested in genetic counselling. She completed her Human Genetics Society of Australasia Fellowship in genetic counselling in 2000. As a genetic counsellor, Mona worked with individuals and families in a variety of settings including prenatal, adult onset conditions and paediatric genetics. Together with genetic counselling, Mona's love of education led to her current role at The Centre. Mona has provided education to undergraduates, post graduates, professionals and community groups and enjoys communicating about genetic health to all audiences. Her research interests include communication and the impact genetics can have on individuals from all walks of life. She completed her Doctoral Thesis at UNSW on the topic of Cancer, Culture and Genetics. Show less
