I am very grateful to have gained a place on the Bright Network Internship Experience Uk 2022: Business and Marketing, which I completed over the last week. I really appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the Business Operations and Marketing sector from a range of employers working at leading organisations; including Nestlé, BT, British Airways, P&G, Google and Vodafone. I particularly enjoyed hearing from Callum Wood, brand director at Procter and Gamble, and learning more about the process of brand activation, product development and methods of marketing brands in relation to specific audiences' needs. It was very useful to listen to experienced employees and current interns, who provided valuable insight into developing my problem solving ability, interview technique and CV writing skills. Completing a sample submission for Robin Sundaram, sourcing manager of Nestlé, in which I drafted a rebrand plan for Kit Kat, provided me with valuable marketing experience within the FMCG sector, highlighting the importance of combining creativity with research whilst bearing in mind consumer needs. Overall, it was a really exciting experience and which has helped me understand how to make myself a better candidate for internships and Graduate schemes in the future, and I look forward to using the skills I have learnt over the week in the future.

I am extremely grateful to have taken part in the L'Oréal Spring Insight Scheme over the last week. Learning about L'Oréal's 4 divisions was hugely valuable to me. I really enjoyed finding out more about the management of a global FMCG business, especially the digital marketing and commercial roles existing within individual brands held in L'Oréal's extensive portfolio, and methods of brand activation and growth. It was a really exciting experience and I gained a lot from speaking to employees and current interns about their positions and asking questions about their personal experiences at L'Oréal. It was also really valuable to learn tips about CV writing and interview technique and I look forward putting these into practise in the future.

In January 2021 I set up an art Instagram account, through which I take commissions and showcase my work. I really enjoy working through this platform because it allows complete freedom - I can add work or answer inquiries wherever I am from my telephone. Through my account I gained many commissions - among others, I have been paid too illustrate a novel, paint landscapes and also portraits of pets. Working for myself in this way has improved my commercial and interpersonal skills. Likewise it has taught me about working together with the customer in order to produce a desirable result. I really enjoyed working for Sugo’s painting their signs, logos and menus onto two buildings. It helped me learn more about working in a team under time pressure and emphasised the need for efficiency in a working environment.
