I was employed as a Lifeguard Water Sports Specialist and a Child Counsellor at an American Summer camp, Camp Lokanda. Primarily, I was the children’s caregiver and guidance counsellor for the duration at summer camp. Counsellors are actively involved with the children day to day, whilst providing a warm, supportive and fun space for each child to learn and develop skills at all levels. We were to introduce and encourage the children to try their best at every activity camp has to offer and promote positivity and teamwork. I was also trained as a Lifeguard and received my First Aid, CPR and AED training certificate with the American Red Cross (certificate attached). My duties in this role required me to obtain my Boat License, enabling me to drive the boats on the lake at camp and teach children the skills and techniques of water sports - including water skiing, knee boarding, wake boarding and swimming.
