    • Safety Services Intern
      • Jun 2017 - May 2019

Beginning in Summer of 2017, I was given the opportunity to be a Higher Education Research Experiences (HERE) Intern at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. I have been in Safety Services Division working with Health and Safety Professionals. This internship has given me hands-on Industrial Hygiene experience by allowing me to go into the field and perform various types of sampling, as well has given me the opportunity to develop my analytical skills. The two main types of sampling that I have performed are noise exposure assessments on various craft workers and Manganese air exposure assessments on welders. These both require database entries. I have also worked with Lead, Beryllium, and Asbestos data from building characterizations. My experiences apply to my field of study (Civil Engineering) by giving me an insight on the safety requirements for projects.
