Dr Afiq was the top performer in our talent pool in the company when he started at DBHD. He helped me turn around the public listed company that has been experiencing losses for 3 consecutive years, from red to black (within one year). Even though new to strategic planning and restructuring at the time, he picked it up very fast, and in some ways, improved the methodology and execution. He also loved challenges, daring to go to ailing companies to turn them around. From being the Head of Corporate Development and Transformation in headquarters, he requested to be the Managing Director of Metro Parking Singapore, which was ailing at the time. It was also a very brave request, nobody else wanted to take up that task.
