      • Road detection and pavement quality assessment from a vehicle is an interesting research problem for intelligent transportation and road safety applications. In general, the position of the sensors is at the front or at the rear of the vehicle, fairly close to the road and with an orthogonal incidence. For this study, the two LiDAR will be placed on the roof of the vehicle to have an estimate of the road defects with the measurements at the front of the vehicle, confirmed by the measurements at the rear of the vehicle. As the vehicle speed is known, faults will be predicted in future acquisitions. • The application and innovative issues of this project can be exposed in 3 aspects:  Processing of measurements from telemetric sensors:  Spatial and temporal adjustment of the measurements to guarantee good precision in the information provided.  Segmentation for the extraction of relevant information (plans and segments) induced by the large quantity of impacts.  Processing of measurements from telemetric sensors:  Estimation of the movement of the carrier vehicle by non-linear filtering methods (particle filtering) from dynamic models of fixed objects.  Estimation of dynamic parameters of moving objects to discriminate fixed and moving objects in subsequent acquisitions.  Extraction of semantic information from the route:  Road detection.  3D reconstruction of the road profile.  Precise geolocation of defects.  Visualization of 2D image information.
