Today we have more than 24000 new refugees in Norway. Integration of refugees is one of the country's biggest societal challenges. One of the reasons for this is that refugees need more than five years to be integrated into Norwegian society. The aim of the Refugees Change Makers (RCM) is to help refugees to be integrated over two years instead of five. The entrepreneur of RCM is a refugee himself from Syria, and his vision is that the integration process in Norway can be improved, for example by offering refugees courses to be motivated to be integrated. Based on this vision, we therefore make courses in the RCM directly aimed at refugees to help them get faster and more easily integrated and to know how to get started in Norwegian society. Course holders are even refugees with personal experience of successful integration. RCM has created a motivational course called "Motivation and willing". Wednesday 24th of August we run our first course in Kongsberg municipality. The aim of the course is to give refugees motivation to work harder at the start of a new life in Norway. We are also doing a course called "How to Get Norwegian Friends". Refugees say that one of their biggest challenges in entering Norwegian society is to get acquainted with Norwegians. The aim of this course is to give refugees advice and tips on how to get to know Norwegians by, for example, informing about general habits, lifestyle and leisure activities. 20% of refugees who come to Norway have higher education. These are people with great determination and capacity to learn and who want to contribute to their new country. We have interviewed a number of immigrants and refugees who have been in Norway for a long time to show society how individuals can become resource people and have a big impact on society. This is also part of our motivation series aimed at refugees. Show less
