Day 2: The focus shifted to topics like the circulating system, drilling fluids, solid control equipment, directional drilling, casing, cementing, and survey tools. Day 3: We concluded with a deep dive into well control concepts (introduction), well control equipment, and various killing methods. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to learn from EDC's experts and to be a part of an institution that prioritizes competence, knowledge sharing, and preparedness for both routine and unexpected challenges. Over the past few days, I've had the privilege of immersing myself in the fascinating world of oil drilling, learning from industry experts, and gaining hands-on experience that has truly enriched my knowledge. One of the highlights of this internship was getting up close and personal with the rig components and drilling console. I had the opportunity to observe these intricate systems in action, gaining insights into their functioning and role in the drilling process. Being able to observe the skilled drilling crew in action was an invaluable experience. I learned from their expertise and dedication, gaining insights into the teamwork, precision, and coordination that goes into every drilling operation. I had the privilege of witnessing the liner casing process and cementing operations. This hands-on experience provided me with a deeper understanding of these critical steps in ensuring the integrity of the well. My internship also included engaging with Schlumberger's mud engineer delving into mud engineering concepts and lab experiments. I gained insights into the significance of mud circulation and its role in the drilling process. With PetroServices' mud logger,I had the opportunity to witness the real-time application of data and mud logging. This experience shed light on the importance of accurate data collection and analysis for optimizing drilling operations. Engaging discussions allowed me to delve into well control concepts, blowout preventers (BOP), and different drilling bit types. Safety was a top priority, and I received comprehensive safety induction from NDC's safety engineers. Show less
