This included: the writing and production of a Primary School syllabus, curriculum and Textbooks; supported the establishment of teachers pre-service college and provided necessary technical support in the development of curriculum and resource materials; developed primary Teacher In-service Program and training of 6,000 teachers and establishment and training of supervisors-cum-trainers in all provinces; advocated for policy changes on school exam systems, especially at primary levels to ensure that system is child-friendly; Organized advocacy and social mobilization activities geared to increasing enrollment and raising public awareness on the value of education, especially that of girls; established a comprehensive EMIS consisting of pupil cards, class and school registers, regional and a National Database System for the Ministry of Education; improved the teaching/learning environment of schools by designing and introducing a locally sustainable initiative in which teachers, parents and communities are provided with skills to improve their school environment with fewer resources and established Community Education Committees (CECs) in most of the schools.
