As a student at the University of Huddersfield, Mo was an extremely committed team-player who showed exceptional initiative. The standard of her intellectual work was consistently in the top 15% of students and she was always prepared to go the extra mile with her written, oral and practical work to ensure the success of the matter in hand.

I took this role, albeit a step-down in responsibilities from my role at Plusnet, because I needed to get off shift work and have a regular day-time job nearer to home. The role primary consists of entering data into the design department's database to keep orders and customer details up to date. It also involves liaising with designers and account managers over changes to layouts, styles and items ordered, as well as contacting specialist suppliers for glass and granite options. I am leaving Symphony on 04/12/2020 to pursue more academic research. Show less

I provided technical and general customer support to callers wanting to update their account, report a problem, pay a bill, etc. I was part of a team of first response analysts, assessing issues using online assessment tools and technical knowledge to resolve broadband, phone connection and other service issues. This role enhanced my effective questioning skills which were essential to this role in order to quickly and efficiently get to the nub of a customer's issue and offer the best solution. I received high praise from customers for my work and I was recommended by my team leader to join a specialist, in depth team, looking at ongoing issues and how to improve customer relations but a combination of ill health and delays in putting the team together resulted in me choosing to leave. I achieved a place on the Masters by Research Literature Studies degree after being encouraged to pursue further research work by Dr Jessica Malay, Reader in English Literature at the University of Huddersfield during the summer of 2012. Dr Malay has agreed to supervise my work and I am receiving a generous fee waiver from the University for which I would like to express my sincere thanks. My research topic currently concerns mimesis and masculinity in early modern / late Renaissance English literature. Completed a Teaching Assistant Preparation Programme course in May 2013. My MRes studies were suspended in December 2013 due to complications following a car accident. I am currently waiting for a decison on my revised proposal. My intention is to start back in January 2021. Show less

I helped research and develop the 'Silver 70s' exhibition. I also contributed as an exhibitor. "The Silver 70s exhibition achieved 50,469 visitors up to 15 April 2012, representing a 70% conversion rate from the main museum exhibits to the special exhibition when usually we’d only expect about 50%. We’ve also received some of the best feedback we’ve ever had and to achieve that in three and a half months when usually special exhibitions run for up to 6 months is amazing. We have received lots of requests for 1980s and 1960s themed exhibitions as a result and we are making plans to programme them in for the future." This quote is taken from an email received from Leeds Museum after the exhibition closed. Show less

    • Administrator, Combined Arts & Planning
      • Oct 1990 - Aug 2000

General office management including managing the Head of Department's diary and acting as the central point of contact for the department regarding services, grant applications and other correspondence. Organisation of department meetings, taking minutes and collation and distribution of agendas and associated documents. Liaising with the other department administrators to make best use of resources such as coordinating joint mailings. This was the final position I held whilst I was at East Midlands Arts. I started as Art, Craft and Photography Secretary responsible for the management of the Company's visual arts slide library and database. I then went onto become PR and Communications Assistant after the Company changed from an Association to a Board in 1991. After that my job changed again to become PR and Information Assistant, a position that was jointly managed by the Chief Executive's section and Central Services as it comprised of work that supported both departments - PR for the Chief Exec's section and information/IT support for Central Services, this also included managing the Company's reference library. When the National Lottery funding became part of the work of East Midlands Arts my job changed again to become Resource Development Assistant. I was responsible for the upkeep and development of the Company's National Lottery funding database, assisting with all things to do with the Company's processing of National Lottery Arts Fund applications and disseminating information regarding other funding opportunities such as those from Trusts and Foundations. After further Company reorganisation I finally became Department Administrator for Combined Arts and Planning. Show less
