Michel Malécot, Founder/chef and President of The French Gourmet, was raised on a farm in Normandie where *farm to table food* was his family way of of life. He.graduated from The St Amand-Montrond culinary school in France in 1969 and of the Tours Albert Bayet dinning room service college in 1970. He worked as a cook in France, England, and Germany prior to coming to the United States in 1972. While working in Miami and Manhattan, he learned a great deal about American cuisine. In 1976, Michel moved to San Diego and continued to fine-tune his culinary skills at Le Côte D' Azur Restaurant in La Jolla. In 1979 he openned The French Gourmet. He is known throughout San Diego for his expertise as a caterer, his forte is to be able to provide delicious food that is easily recognizable and appropriate for the event one is having. When catering a fund raiser and or gala he is known to surprise the audience by donating a catered meal where he comes with a server and the making of a delicious feast to the highest bidder's home. As a guests chef his dinner has sold for up to $5k. Michel held the designation of Certified Professional Catering Executive and is a recipient of the very prestigious Gold Key Award for Food & Beverage Person of the Year.
