Erika Samuels
In working with Michael on fullstack web development projects at Paperspace, he has proven to be an extremely valuable member of our engineering team. His knowledge about Javascript tools and resources, experience with Docker and testing frameworks, and motivation to take on difficult tasks was crucial to solve many challenges in building/debugging/stabilizing our codebase and improving our internal processes. He even won a staff award for his consistent willingness to help fellow team members - this example of his kindness, in combination with his many code contributions, thoughtful reviews, fullstack knowledge base, and overall dependability, is a testament to his value on any engineering team.

Michael is one of the best engineers I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. He has the rare combination of technical skills across the stack, as well as leadership and strong communication skills to technical and non technical stakeholders. I’ve had the pleasant opportunity to work alongside Michael at Paperspace, primarily on the Frontend React application. However, Michael is a very versatile engineer with strong skills across the stack, with an expertise in implementing front end infrastructure. He has almost singlehandedly scoped out and implemented our testing infrastructure and integration with Jest, Enzyme, Cypress, and CircleCi. Michael has also been a mentor for our front end team and a strong advocate for code quality by reviewing and discussing Pull Requests, pushing engineers in various ways to write clean, efficient, and well tested code that adheres to industry standards. Past his technical skills, Michael is simply fun to communicate and work alongside with. He is technically passionate and makes a point of staying up to date with recent technologies and patterns, which makes pair programming or just geeking out with him a rewarding experience for engineers at any level. Anyone would not only be lucky, but will feel instant gratification by working with or on Michael’s team in any capacity.
