I had the pleasure of working with Mercedes on many occasions. She was always pleasant and willing to help. She is a good listener and knows when to ask clarifying questions, ensuring she is not wasting time or effort. Being able to quickly understand new concepts and/or search out the information she needs, makes her a "go to" person when something needs to be completed with minimal oversight. She has the ability to see the big picture and understand her choices have impacts outside her realm of influence, i.e. cost, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, etc. While still early in her career, she is well on her way to becoming a world-class engineer. If you are looking for a innovative individual contributor or a motivated team member, I would highly recommend Mercedes for the job. Give her a challenge and she won't let you down.

Staff robotics mentor for FRC Team 1351, TKO. In this role, I work with high school students (ages 13-18), teaching mechanical and electrical engineering principles, as well as rapid prototyping and manufacturing skills. I train and supervise students in the use of most standard shop tools (bandsaw, drill press, etc.) as well as more sophisticated equipment such as CNC machines and 3D printers.
