Colin Marshall

Matthew is a team player whilst also willing to lead. He has very good project management skills, proactively chasing down tasks ensuring projects are completed on time. Although his previous roles were not as a project manager this is definitely what he should aspire to. Matthew is friendly, great person to have on your team willing to chip in where required.

I started at Premier Farnell in a team of five Publishing Specialists, using two bespoke software packages, STEP and PAW, to produce a wide range of catalogues for a global market. The team paginate and prepare for print anywhere between eight and ten catalogues a year, all of which are tailored to the specific local markets, by using local languages and country-specific pricing structures. Some of these local markets include France, Germany, Singapore & Malaysia and Australia & New Zealand, as well as our sister company CPC The team also uses Photoshop and Acrobat to prepare images and files for print. Until my promotion in July 2003, I worked as the main designer in the advertising department; my responsibilities were designing new artwork for a large base of customers using Quark, Photoshop and also Microsoft Office packages. I also set and updated the monthly Classified section in each of the ten magazines published for an international market by WTP. • Advertising Artwork Co-Ordinator
      • Aug 2001 - Aug 2004

In June 2003 I moved up to the position of Artwork Co-ordinator. In addition to my design work, my duties involved liasing with sales staff, worldwide agents and customers regarding ongoing adverts and future bookings. During the pre-publication and designing stage of publication, it was my responsibility to proof new or existing adverts to the customer or agent for that issue, and if necessary, chase up any unapproved artwork. I also worked closely with the sales staff to ensure all advert materials arrived in good time for each issue. Show less

Bradbury Bros is largely based around the motorcycle spares industry, selling products to retailers and garages throughout the U.K. My main duties within the company involved the design and production of the bi-annual stock catalogue. This involved taking digital photographs of the various products available; these were then downloaded and edited using Adobe Photoshop. I used software packages such as Microsoft Word & Excel and QuarkXPress to design and produce the pages. In and amongst this I also produced promotional material, such as flyers, newsletters and new product inserts. Show less

    • Desktop Publisher
      • Aug 1999 - Apr 2000

The majority of my work involved the designing and building of the company website, this was done mainly by scanning images of products available using Adobe Photoshop and PageMaker along with Illustrator, which are then added to the website with product descriptions. As I was employed at the head office I frequently liaised with other offices to give them update on new products. OTHER PROJECTS: In 2004 I produced the 2004 product catalogue and information sheets for WIRA Instrumentation. The company supplied the "raw material", and my brief was to design a new layout and put the catalogue together. The PDFs of the WIRA catalogue can be viewed at www.wira.com as they are still in use. In July 2007 I designed an adult education prospectus for a family friend who has set up her own college, Bradford & Ilkley Arts & Technology Academy. I did this in Quark, setting the pages and editing the text to fit the parameters. Show less
