My mission in Colombia within the Shape Colombia Project and its immersion rooms was to teach young minds in public schools about the importance of global understanding and how to be better citizen of the world. All of this through different fun activities using French language and reinforcing different values. Recognized as Aulas de Immersion (Immersion Rooms inside the schools), the Shape Colombia Project is an initiative created in 2013 by Secretaría de Educación de Bogotá in association with AIESEC. Derived from the Local Development Plan of the city, it aims to broaden the perspectives and opportunities for the youth, manly by offering innovative, diverse and wider options of education. As a high school English teacher, my duties included planning interesting classes, creating materials, and developing different activities to make easier the English Language learning process. I had to present information about basic grammar, language usage, writing techniques, and literature. It was also my responsibility to assess my students’ language abilities and monitor their progress in class. Additionally, I had to communicate with their parents about their child’s progress and participation throughout the school year. Show less

My duties included creating an engaging curriculum that teaches young minds about the beauty and importance of this language. My general work responsibilities were to prepare daily lecture materials, assign and grade students’ daily work and homework, and develop activities to teach and promote an understanding of foreign cultures. I worked closely with all my students, especially those with learning disabilities or those who were simply struggling with the content being taught. In this Internship my duties included attending English Reading and Writing classes, and assisting with group activities; also, planning and teaching group tutorials, and encouraging students to read and discuss different reading genders. Additionally, it was my responsibility to organize some extra curriculum activities with the students; especially those related to reading and writing. On the other hand, I helped the professors in charge of the classes in preparing assignments for students. We also worked together to introduce better teaching styles to make learning fun. Show less
