Bio
Jeffrey La Belle
I have known and worked with Dr. Miti Shah since 2005. We worked within the same Center in the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University. She was a very dedicated, thorough, and hard working postdoctoral candidate. We worked on the detection of Salmonella typhimurium together and during the research published our findings. I was developing a novel sensor at the time for ultrafast and low concentration level of bacterium, and Miti assisted in determining the specificity of the senor to Salmonella over E coli. Miti and I were the lead writers on this manuscript as our work was the highlight of the publication. During the revisions, again, Miti and I took the lead to see this publication get accepted and finally published. She is a great colleague and very proficient in science and scientific writing and I know anyone who has the pleasure of working with her, will be glad that they did.

I hired Miti based on general recommendations about her skill as a cell biologist, but she has impressed me on many levels. She has golden hands in the lab, detail oriented and highly skilled. Her experiments work. Period. She can design experiments, optimize protocols, manage people, write publications, perform statistical analyses, and interact constructively with peers and supervisors. I would not hesitate to stake my reputation on Miti's ability to transform a stale project into a successful one in record time.
