This was the most valuable work experience which allowed me to manage and refinance two large existing unencumbered commercial properties and leverage them into residential investment properties throughout central Scotland. In February 2022 I started self-funding my education to fuel by ambition for all things property. I was given a set investment criterion for the properties by the company which I had to fulfil. I acquired an extra property into the portfolio in an extremely difficult and overpriced market. Throughout my experience I explored the possibilities of tax and pension vehicles such as SASS’s and REITS and how they can be implemented into the business to make it more cash efficient. I was also required to set up and prepare property management software such as Arthur Online to manage the properties and accounting software, Xero which I single handedly set up and ran until a book keeping accountant was hired. This experience was invaluable as it taught me so much about the real estate investment market but also how to run and operate a business from the ground up. Show less

This is where I worked every summer from the age of 15. I was taught throughout my time here to maintain machines such as electric scissor lift and diesel booms that came in from off hired sites, determine the machine status and flag up any repairs that they needed. I also washed and maintained the health of the machine by checking battery levels and machine functionality. Often, I would go to different depots across Scotland to do this, and carry out any tasks that made the depot run more smoothly and more efficiently. From 2020 onwards I created induction systems and processes which were designed for new starts to speed up the learning process during the induction period. This also involved the creation of health and safety training videos used as standards to existing and new staff. Show less
