I currently serve as an athlete representative on the Western Ontario Division (WOD) and Burloak Canoe Club board of directors and Canoe Kayak Ontario’s (CKO) Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee. As such, it is my responsibility to communicate comments and concerns of athletes’ in the paddling community with administrative staff. In 2020 I noticed the need for EDI work within my sporting community and helped launch an EDI committee. Most recently, I launched a ‘Leading the Way” social media campaign with the goal of amplifying the voices of underrepresented groups within the paddling community. Additionally, I have aided in the creation and implementation of educational content on EDI for canoe/kayak coach education. Furthermore, I have created a resource page for the canoe/kayak community and continue to form relationships with EDI community partners. Show less
