As a researcher, I conducted a study to determine the prevalence of risk behaviours and health determinants in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and asexual (LGBTQA) communities of the Greater Lehigh Valley, which is the catchment area of the KwaZulu Natal and Cape Town LGBTQIA++ Community Centre. The purpose of this study was to gain a better understanding of the specific health needs and concerns of these communities so that the community centre could better serve and support them. The data collected during the study were analyzed and used to inform the development of programs and services that were tailored to meet the needs of the LGBTQA communities. Show less
