As a Senior R&D Scientist, I work on innovating and creating PCR assays compatible on the Myra automatic liquid handler and micPCR devices. I make business plans to present a case on why a product is worth development by doing market research. Once approved, I look after all aspects design related, from oligonucleotide design and polymerase selection, to assay optimization. I created and submitted TGA approval for • the Mic SARS-CoV-2, Influenza and RSV Assay • the Mic Ct/Ng/Tv Assay I also provided customer support to a key pathology user with high throughput molecular diagnostics in NSW, Australia. As a clinical trials coordinator, I ensured devices met standards for diagnostics, created clinical trial protocols, applied for ethics approval, recruited patients into trials and performed statistical analysis. I also presented data where possible to demonstrate clinical utility of diagnostic tests. My portfolio included sepsis, traumatic brain injury (TBI), acute coronary syndrome and assessment of SARS-CoV-2 rapid diagnostics and rapid antigen tests (RATs). My two biggest projects are listed below.Title: Sepsis Management Using T2 Magnetic Resonance Panels• I undertook an evaluation to see if the T2Dx was able to accurately and effectively diagnose sepsis in under 4 hours using less than 4 mLs of blood.• Patients were recruited from ED and ICU at Westmead Hospital.• I established clinical accuracy and efficacy in comparison to blood culture bottles.Title: Mass surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 utilising self-collection swabs and high-throughput laboratory techniques: an Australian case study of asymptomatic year 12 students at Qudos Bank Arena.• I was the Chief Scientist at this lab, where an innovative self-collection swab was used for SARS-CoV-2 and tested using a direct-to-PCR method compatible on the Myra and Mic by BMS.• I performed statistical analysis to demonstrate the utility of these diagnostics.• In total, my lab ran 15000 samples over 7 days.• The lab had ~25 employees who were all trained by myself.
