I worked with Misau in my capacity as Acting National Advisor Mental Health and as Chair of the National Mental Health Clinical Specialty Network in Fiji. Misau demonstrated high level of initiative and high motivation, providing community mental health services with scarce resources. She provided service to a large urban and rural population in and around Lautoka, the second city of Fiji, as a one person community mental health unit most times. In addition, she provided mentoring support to nurses designated as community mental health focal points, in six medical subdivisions (population > 100,000). During her tenure, she assisted in the establishment of a psychosocial program for persons living with mental illness in the community. Misau is dedicated to health care and demonstrated the ability to work with a team with members from different socioeconomic and occupational backgrounds. She expressed insights into the health care system in the community that greatly supported decision-making process.
