Design Engineer

During this time I took on three different roles.1) Main developer for a tool for creating Transport Streams for testing Dolby-capable systems (TVs, STBs, etc.). The tool was written in Perl and wrapped around a number of internal as well as external tools including decoders, encoders and multiplexers, while providing a single frontend for test stream specification. Tasks included: - developing (and testing) new features and fixing bugs - logging work and updating task and bug statuses in a project management and issue tracking software (Atlassian Jira) - releasing a new version of the tool every quarter - being a direct contact person for users of the tool2) Lead of a team of four tasked with creating tests to validate (via automated test harness) customers' implementations of Dolby's Multistream Decoder "MS12". We made extensive use of Atlassian JIRA for issue tracking, Perforce for revision control and some use of Hansoft for task tracking. Tasks included: - designing tests for individual components as well as the integration layer of the decoder - delegating test creation tasks to members of my team while tackling some fraction myself - enabling the team to work better by reducing hurdles we came across - organising weekly meetings with the team to discuss progress of tasks - partaking in weekly meetings with the other leads and managers, as well as meetings with product managers and field engineers - closely cooperating with the Technical Publications team 3) In the transition period between the projects I: - worked with the new developer for the Transport Stream Creation tool to create a preliminary design/impression of a new web-based frontend for the tool, which was to replace the old Excel-based frontend - developed new, and verified old, tests for one component of the Dolby MS12 Decoder
