July 13, 2018 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: It is with extreme pleasure that I support and recommend Mirum Washington-White for NIRSA President. I have known Mirum both as a friend and colleague for the past 26 years. I met him at a NIRSA conference and was extremely impressed with him as a young professional. I was fortunate to work with him at the University of Arizona. He served as our Assistant Director for Intramurals and Sports Clubs. Mirum did an outstanding job with the Intramural program. He started as an Intramural Coordinator when I arrived at Arizona. He impressed me with his knowledge and professional attitude. He was promoted to Assistant Director within two years. He grew the program during that time and assisted in planning for an addition to the facility. He worked well with the entire campus and assisted in doing events for welcoming new students to the campus and his programs. Mirum also help expand the officials program at Arizona. Our officials were well trained and professional and always utilized in tournaments for NIRSA on a regional and national level. He ensured that these students reflected well on the University. He also hosted the NIRSA Regional (VI) Basketball tournament for many years. He was always called on because of the great job he did hosting the tournament. Things always ran smoothly throughout the tournament. I watched him grow as a professional in NIRSA and took an interest in getting him even more involved with the Association. I solicited his help with supporting the People of Color Social (created in 1990) during the formative years. He has since distinguished himself not only as an exceptional professional, but also was active in many aspects of NIRSA not only on a national level, but on a regional and state level as well. I invited him to become more involved at the time in the Minority Student Development Workshops, which later was renamed in 1995 the Emerging Recreational Sports Leaders Conference (ERSLC). Mirum was actively involved in that name change. In fact, Mirum has been active in all aspects of diversity for the NIRSA since joining. He provides support and helped planned and presented when he could for the ERSLC (which has been numerous). He also continues to be a major player in support of the People of Color Social. He was involved in development of the NIRSA Founders Endowment. He has also presented at both regional and national conferences. He serves as mentor to many students and young professionals. Student know and respect him, and have grown in their service to NIRSA as a result of his mentoring. He supports them and ensure they get what they need to succeed. He is a great teacher and ensures student learn in the process of their development. He prepared the University of Arizona students for conferences and ensure they handled themselves professionally while in attendance. Mirum’s commitment to service and leadership is outstanding. Mirum is amazing and an inspirat

Mirum is the consummate professional, and my work with him on the NIRSA board of directors was incredibly fulfilling. He pays attention to the details, isn't shy about asking smart and tough questions, and cares passionately about NIRSA. It's my honor to have known him for almost 30 years - and its been my pleasure to have served with him on numerous task forces, events and committees over that time.
