  During my year as chairman of the biggest student hockey association in the Netherlands, I improved my public speaking skills and acquired a great leadership experience. I lead the association through the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which was very challenging. It required a lot of resilience and perseverance, but my board and I succeeded in safeguarding the survival of the association throughout the severe economic crisis that followed.   Together with other peers, I founded the Frisian Youth Advisory Council. This is a Council consisting of motivated high school students who advise the local government on policy making.
