Appointed by the Utah Rotary District Governor, my responsibilities as Utah Rotary Youth Chair were: 1.) To create an infrastructure to support and strengthen the core Utah Youth Programs (RYLA, Interact, Rotaract, Youth Exchange & U40s) through organization, support & partnerships. I did this through leading monthly committee conference calls with my four Program Chairs, working with Program Chairs to support them with their responsibilities, maintaining financial records for programs through a Google spreadsheet, including budget proposals and end-of-year reports, submitting reports & proposals annually, creating & maintaining systems to collect & store contact info of youth involved in programs, seeking sustainable funding for programs, overseeing strategic planning meetings with Program Chairs, and Utah Rotary leadership. 2.) To promote a culture within Rotary that attracts and retains young people in Rotary. I did this through developing outside partnerships, promoting Rotary engagement with youth as a spokesperson at Utah Rotary events and conferences, training Rotary leaders on how to work with younger populations, creating educational excerpts for newsletters, and creating systems to collect & store contact info of Club Youth Chairs. 3.) To oversee initiatives that engaged young people in Rotary. I did these things by creating the online Rotary Mentoring Hub, matching young people with Rotarians for mentorship, creating and shaping the U40 Program (Rotarians Under 40 initiative), maintaining the Utah Rotary Youth website & blog (www.utahrotaryyouth.org), creating quarterly newsletters through Constant Contact for young people involved in Rotary, collaborating with our Communication Specialist Intern, planning District Youth Conferences & participating on the District Conference Committee, and assisting with local & international youth-oriented service trips as needed.
