Clinical Legal Education Placement
-
Jul 2013 - Nov 2013
I worked with fellow law students under the supervision of senior solicitors to provide clients with legal advice in relation to matters within the jurisdiction of the Minor Civil Claims Division of the Adelaide Magistrates Court. I gained experience interviewing and advising clients, writing legal letters, liaising with Court staff, and witnessing a variety of Court procedures including bail hearings, Directions Hearings and trials. As part of a team of students, we produced pamphlets to provide plain English information to Court attendees titled 'Going to Court: Things to Consider' and 'Directions Hearings', and a flowchart titled 'Debt Recovery'.

I also completed a research project titled 'The Compatibility of Ombudsman SA as a National Preventive Mechanism under the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture'.
