I provide additional support in teaching situations to those students who may experience difficulties with some class tasks. This support includes accompanying students on field trips (usually for the Sciences) and assisting students with laboratory experiments. I encourage my students to participate in group tasks, relay information to them from the tutors and provide manual assistance when required. Having received additional training from Disability Services for this role, I am able to practice and develop my existing amanuensis skills, as well as gain valuable experience in liaising with different administrative staff within different academic departments. Having received additional training from Disability Services for this role, I am able to practice and develop my existing amanuensis skills, as well as gain valuable experience in liaising with different administrative staff within different academic departments. I am also able to draw upon my knowledge of various university procedures to assist students experiencing unexpected difficulties at the time of their exams, such as encouraging them to approach their departments to request special consideration for extenuating circumstances.
