Wrote critical reviews and previews of dance events in the greater Seattle area, taking on a creative and analytical role in the community as an arts writer with a dance background. Provided local artists and young professionals the opportunity to receive published feedback they might not otherwise, offering patrons, the general public, dancers, and choreographers alike with an articulate and succinct critique on local dance and performance art ventures. Routinely worked with editors in person and via Google Docs to refine my voice as a writer and critic, gaining practical skills in arts-related journalism. On the administrative side, assisted with fundraiser/event development, tackled creative solo projects, and sold company merchandise as a website representative. Show less

Singularly developed, coordinated, and actualized the implementation of a twelve-week dance workshop series for low-income, older adults based on the Mark Morris Dance Group/Brooklyn Parkinson Group model of Dance for PD. Taught partially seated, hour-long classes that emphasized creative freedom, community building, and personal agency with an underlying foundation in technique and movement proficiency; offered my services to the facility pro bono in light of an evident need for arts-based, movement-oriented programs for underserved seniors. Evaluated program efficacy via self-reflection of teaching methods/learning outcomes in addition to analyzing students' feedback on "Post-Workshop Pedagogical Assessment Forms." Forms were based on initial workshop goals and intended outcomes, assessing level of enjoyment, technical progress, creativity, physical/emotional/cognitive benefits, socialization benefits, teaching efficacy, etc. Augmented outreach program depth and personal/professional development by conducting scholarly research into the potential for dance to minimize physical and cognitive debilitation among Parkinson's patients. Discussed neurplasticity, dopamine reception efficiency, and predictive movement/mirror neurons in the context of movement, music, and imagery for ameliorating Parkinson's symptoms (rigidity, increased risk for falls, facial masking, dementia/cognitive degradation, loss of arm-swing, etc.). Documented the SHAG Dance Workshop Series and subsequent research in the form of a 200-page thesis/portfolio which will be accessible in the Cornish College of the Arts library by 2017; ultimately presented findings in an hour-long lecture/demonstration at Cornish College of the Arts for peers, professors, and community members.
