Previously, Miranda was Managing Director of RMI's Business Renewables Center, a member-based platform that accelerates corporate purchasing of renewable energy. BRC members were involved in 95% of U.S. corporate renewables deals in 2017. RMI is the only think-tank exclusively focused on advanced energy’s role in national security, economic prosperity, and solving climate change: topics to which Miranda has devoted her career. Until Jan 2017, Miranda was Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Installations, Environment, & Energy), at the Pentagon, where she was responsible for the oversight, formulation, review, and execution of policies, programs, and budgets for installations, energy, environment, safety & occ health. She was the Senior Energy Official for a $9 Billion energy program and oversaw implementation of a $4.5 Billion construction budget, also leading sustainability for 170 AF bases, 50,000 facilities (615M sq.ft.), 9 M acres of land, and 100+ threatened/endangered species. Previously, Ms. Ballentine served as Director of Sustainability for Global Renewable Energy at Walmart Stores, Inc. In this role, she developed and executed global strategies to reduce operating expenses in over 10,000 facilities in over 25 countries. Through acceleration of renewable energy and energy efficiency, Miranda identified $1+ billion in potential annual expense reductions and 9 MMT of potential avoided GHG emissions.
