In addition to the research of the dissertation, my work experience includes teaching and supervising master's theses to students, as well organizing geological excursions abroad. Further, I have done laboratory work, field mapping and sample collection. In my research, I have studied Sokli vermiculite and its ability to absorb nitrogen and the ability to re-use as fertilizer for plants. I have worked on administrative tasks, projects, and research and development. I have been developing GeoTrap cleaning method, which can hold more ammonium nitrogen than any equivalent mineral. After nitrogen fixation, the product is used as a nitrogen-containing soil improver that does not release nitrogen into the surrounding water or evaporate into the air. Consumer products on the market: GeoTrap cat litter, GeoTrap odor and nutrient catcher for geese and GeoTrap filtration mass for gray water. The work has also included commercializing and promoting these products at trade fairs. Show less

The focus during this work period was to test usability of new ammonium absorber clay mineral as fertilizer for plants. The nanomodified vermiculite, which effectively binds ammonium nitrogen to its structure, is developed to remove ammonium (NH4+) from wastewaters. The material is further developed for fertilizer use for plants. The focus during this work period was to test usability of new ammonium absorber clay mineral as fertilizer for plants. The main task during this period of work was to investigate the surface reactions of clay minerals. The focus of was on ion and molecular exchange of clay minerals after they have been nanomodified differently with heat and chemicals. The study included various filtration and absorption tests.
