• Played a leading role (including as an acting EL2) in the AER’s work assisting the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water in developing a delivery mechanism for 400 community batteries. This involved engaging with the Department and ARENA on issues including ensuring that AER administered regulation did not hinder the Department’s overall objective but provided controls that ensured market harms were prevented.• Led a review of the ring-fencing framework in the gas law. The review focused on whether the current obligations are sufficient to incorporate hydrogen and other renewable gas blends. The project involved legal, policy and market analysis and managing the delivery of the project, including submissions to the wider gas reform process.• Played a leading role in the review of the Transmission ring-fencing guideline including acting as an EL2 in weeks before finalising the draft and final guideline. The review involved updating a guideline released in 2002 for the current energy market. My work involved leading and co-ordinating the team’s strategic direction on positions and legal drafting as well as engagement with key stakeholders to ensure the guideline is fit for purpose. • Manage the day-to-day compliance activities of the AER’s Distribution Ring-fencing Guideline and often lead compliance processes that result from breaches to the guideline. This involves understanding the underpinning legal frameworks, managing staff and working with the legal and compliance teams to determine whether energy businesses are complying with the AER’s Distribution Ring-fencing Guideline.

The issues paper stage involved meeting with and understanding the needs of various stakeholders with competing views and problem solving to ensure that competition in the market was not affected by the introduction of these new emerging technologies while allowing innovation to thrive. • Oversaw and led the team in the development of the AER’s inaugural ring-fencing annual compliance report. The report included a comprehensive snapshot of the year and any notable issues and policy considerations that were deliberated.
