Thirst is an initiative of the Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum that is tackling the world's water scarcity crisis by educating and engaging the next generation of global consumers. We are:1. Educating young people to become responsible water citizens, managing their own water useand the use of those around them; and2. Growing consumer demand for water-wise products and thereby inspiring companies to useand promote water-wise processes and products. We have 3 highly successful programs:A) Education - Working with teachers and schools, over 2million students have participated in our water education program.B) Innovation Prize - Students compete to identify technological solutions to common water challenges. Over 600,000 students have enrolled in our competition this year, with plans next year to expand this to 1million.C) Run4Water - designed to use an extreme event (running) to bring awareness to the water crisis around the world through real, on the ground stories, and to inspire people to see the power of every single one of us to make a difference on this planet. We also run a highly successful "Thirst Academy" and "Thirst Ambassador" programs to educate and certify our volunteer community to teach and run our programs. We are a registered Charity and work with large numbers of corporate and multilateral organisations such as Inditex, Levi Strauss & Co and the Foundation for UNESCO (amongst others) who support our program. As well as her role at Thirst, Mina is also an athlete and in 2016 was the first person to run across 7 deserts on 7 continents in just 7 weeks, and in 2017 to run 40Marathons in 40Days down 6 of the world's greatest rivers - all in support of UN Global Goal 6 - Water. She was recognised for her achievement being named by Fortune Magazine as one of the 50 greatest World Leaders.
