Stories, not information; narratives, not just the news. While completing my Masters at the University of Sydney, I wrote two print articles for Neighbourhood Paper, a print publication delivered to over 70,000 homes in Sydney. (You can find it online, here - https://neighbourhoodpaper.com/). These two print features would not have come about had smartphones never been made. The first was on the phenomenon of 'walking while texting', and the second, on 'teenage sexting'. Stories, not information; narratives, not just the news. While completing my Masters at the University of Sydney, I created two interactive walking tours for QuestAbout. It was a lot of fun researching points of interest, crafting questions around them (only answerable if you're physically present), and doing the write-ups to open our eyes to their colourful histories. I've been behind the mike (or miked up) many times --emceeing for concerts, modelling contests; short films and a TVC--but never have I ever used my voice for an audio tour! Until this. VoiceMap contacted me via email, asking if I'd like to research, write, and record an audio tour for them. I did, and so I did. Little bit of my portfolio, here: https://bit.ly/2qVznQu It includes an advertisement for Singtel, a blogshop which I exclusively shot for, short films, emceeing gigs for shows, fitness shoots, fashion shoots, and roving reporter broadcast journalism stints. A lot of what I learned while being a part-time represented model and full-time JC student was time mangement, but also the world through the individuals that make up this tireless, fascinating industry. When I'm in front of the camera, I get to perform, to act. That any form of image-making is actually storytelling might be more obvious with film sets, because movie magic is immersive storytelling with lights, sound, motion. But that is also what photoshoots allow for: instead of a present audience, you project to a lens; instead of having time and movement through space, you tell a story with an instant. I stopped taking on jobs through Upfront after leaving Singapore to be/study overseas for 5.5 years (: That said, while I was living in Istanbul, Turkey's leading telecom operator (Turkcell) needed some yabancılar (foreigners) for an advertorial - and so we shot this overnight. My latest job, undertaken while in Sydney doing my postgrad, was a 90 second TV Commercial. I was in Taiwan for 7 days to be the lead actor in a period ad. Show less
