Tolaram Foundation Ltd.This August saw the formation of an 'August' initiative and foundation to help reach out to more people and communities in the world. The creation of the Tolaram Foundation was the inevitable step forward in the many philanthropic activities of the Tolaram Group. The Foundation will focus on 5 objectives in the regions that Tolaram Group operates. The 5 areas of focus are: Promoting Good Sanitation (including Hygiene and Water), Promoting Education, Supporting Orphans and Orphanages, Providing Equal Opportunities for Females and Empowering the Handicapped (mentally and physically). Together with a Board of Family members spanning 3 generations, we hope to fructify the seeds which were planted by our ancestors. Currently the group overseeos diverse initiatives such as the soup kitchen, a music school and the Mother Theresa home in Estonia, the education and welfare of children from the Bakti Luhur foundation in our ancestral home,Malang along with the Rotary club of Singapore, the Ishk limb centre in Nigeria which provides limbs for free to the disabled. Along side, the group also takes care of a leprosy centre in India and works in collaboration with the Dharamsala too. The activities and initiatives taken up by the group is inspiring and has brought many smiles and we hope to continue the great work started out, even if it is a fraction of the seeds planted more than half a century ago.
