Additionally, the consultancy assessed the overall effectiveness and implementation of the first national strategy. • Over a 7-month period, travelled to a number of fragile and conflict affected states to assess the various barriers facing girls and their access to education. • Held a wide range of consultative meetings and validation workshops with various stakeholders, development partners and senior government officials. • Based on the identified gaps and needs, developed a new five-year girls’ education strategy (2018-2022), including M&E tools, reporting mechanisms and a gender in education checklist for education officials in South Sudan.
