Squirrel Cafe

Co-Owner & Offsite Manager

Jan 2019 - Present
Fortunate enough to open Squirrel in 2019, a gorgeous cafe in the heart of Courtenay Place, serving up all things; coffee, toast, and treats. A joint family venture, this was an outlet to further my skills in design, content creation, team building/management and training. In 2020, just a year after opening, we were nominated as a runner-up for the Best Cafe in Wellington, in the Felix Awards. We’ve seen some large organic growth on our social platforms, and during the COVID-19 lockdown, I created a website and e-commerce platform for Squirrel, so I could deliver sourdough, treats and coffee to our supportive customer base. Although no longer in the café each day, I still create content for the space and social media, as well as recruit, hire and train all staff. Show less

Just short of a year working under the leadership of Matt Hawkes, and alongside a switched on, talented team. Just two of us running the floor each evening, this role relied on me having eyes and ears in all places, and ensuring that our customers are enjoying themselves, and would return with excitement. I thoroughly enjoyed being part of this team, and have Matt to thank for taking me on board! CRM Specialist & Social Coordinator

This role required that I wore many hats, being one member of a small team of three, with influence globally. I was the main customer representative within the team, dealing with all customer enquiries; both B2B and B2C primarily in New Zealand & Europe, however often dealing with big overseas customers in the Middle East, and Asia. Collectively overseeing more than 100,000 units of stock in New Zealand, China and Europe. I also co-ran the Instagram platform with the Sales & Marketing Manager, creating content plans (reels/IGTV/stories/posts), and interacting with customers on the platforms daily. Worth noting that I: - generated accurate quotes and invoices - maintained all customer files - inputted orders and tracked these to delivery (globally) - appropriate tone in all communications (phone, email, social media) - streamlined retail dispatch - created systems to ensure that products on incoming shipments were not being oversold Show less

Prefab Eatery & Events
-
Wellington, Wellington Region, New Zealand
-
Front of House/Social Media Manager
-
Jan 2013 - Nov 2020
Prefab was a long-standing constant in my life from a very young age. Working under the leadership of Jeff Kennedy and Bridget Dunn, who truly formed and molded my work ethic. At Prefab's peak, it was possibly one of the busiest cafes in New Zealand, resulting in a team who were switched on, took initiative, and sought to make every dining experience one of the best. Alongside my FOH role, I also took on managing the social media channels from 2015 onwards. With over 8,000 followers, this involved content creation, generating interest for new food specials and upcoming events, and increasing engagement with customers. Show less
