  I had been practicing taekwondo for two years before being asked to join the leadership team. I was the youngest one on the team at just 12 years old—underage, but hard-working and intrinsically motivated. On top of my two regular classes and my one sparring class, I was coming in early to help teach two beginner classes, giving me a total of five hours per week that I was spending at the studio during most months. During spring and summer breaks, I would work with one or two other assistant instructors and our head master at the day camps offered to students from the ages of 5-12, coming in 5 days a week from 9am to 3pm on top of my own classes. Unfortunately, when my schedule began to get busier with school, I wasn't able to keep up with helping to teach weekly classes.
