My key duties include the following: Ensuring that work activities comply with licence requirements as issued by the National Nuclear Regulator and OHS Act with all relevant regulations. Manage OHS control systems and ensure that reporting, recording and investigation systems are implemented. Ensuring that contractors, who undertake services for the company, comply with all provisions of the relevant nuclear and conventional safety legislations and policies. Executing and maintaining a comprehensive radiological surveillance programme for the facility. Training of personnel in SHERQ documents. Keeping safety related documentation up to date and drawing up of such documentation where needed. Handling and transportation of radioactive sources, as well as medical waste. Conducting regular work place inspections, awareness programmes and investigations of risk to health and safety in the work place and construction sites. Performing of safety inspections and conducting safety meetings. Record keeping of statutory check lists and registers. Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual conventional and radiological safety reports for management. Ensure compliance with SABS codes and transport regulations for the transport of radioactive waste and radiological sources. Ensuring compliance with transport regulations for the transport of medical waste. Giving support in the BBS (Behavior Based Safety) process. Assisting with incident investigations. Assisting with special radiation tasks in conjunction with the IAEA. Supervising a radiological team and ensure compliance with set standards. SARPA member: Attending SARPA conferences Actively improving safety systems. Finding solutions as far as possible to ensure a healthy and safe environment. Show less
