As Lead Designer IN THE OFFICE -Designed the entire line of speakers from the ground up, from exploring form and materiality to complete solidworks assembly files and even prototype fabrication by hand. -Worked in concert with the acoustical engineers to create optimal sound clarity by embracing our modular approach and geometric design language resulting in a finer end product. -Completed development of corporate image from logo to product positioning. -Created a dynamic and robust design language for the line of speakers, and future offerings. -Designed the logos, promotional materials and every 3D rendering used in visual communication. IN THE FIELD -Did extensive user feedback research on location, identifying pain points and revising prototypes to reflect user needs. -Assisted in fabrication of prototypes, machining parts, carpentry and painting. -Took the speakers far out into the field for testing with the rest of the crew to harsh environments to test performance, durability and sound quality. Worked on digitizing the company's most popular products, with extensive work in Solidworks, including flat patterns for laser cutting, intricate 3-D assemblies, and extensive BOM (bills-of-material). Additionally, worked closely with the company principal to create new products, rendering prototype fixtures, and exploring new design concepts in 3-D with Solidworks. Created assembly instructions for products, exploded isometric diagrams, and fully rendering standard lamp components, along with the custom metal and glass elements that made these pieces unique. At personal invitation of Fabrizio Giugiaro, I apprenticed under the guidance of designer Nicola Guelfo and his team in Ital's industrial design department. At Ital, I sharpened my skills in sketching, digital illustration, and 3D rendering tools to create designs for products. I was present at every step of the design process from the first briefing through initial design, renderings, design packaging and the pitch. Accomplishments include: An outdoor furniture set for a prominent Portuguese company Paint livery for a natural gas locomotive demonstrator, the TEM-19-001, built by the Bryansk Locomotive Works, Bryansk, Russia. The design debuted at EXPO 1520 International Railway Salon in Sept. 2013. Show less
