www.intermecokvartet.com Since it first appeared in 1999, the quartet INTERMECO has, in the Balkan States, gained a reputation as the leading band in performing rock cover versions. Although INTERMECO draws on the European and world groups of a similar format, a composer and arranger Vladimir Pejković has recognized the new energy and driving forceof the band and has transformed them into authentic arrangements exclusively made for the quartet. As the cooperation has led to developing the quartet’s performances into those of a band and less of a classical quartet, the initial idea of making audiences familiar with string instruments has come to life. Since INTERMECO is constantly looking for new music trends promoting different genres in new contexts, the past twelve years have brought about quality changes to the repertoir in order to suit various performing concepts. Collaborated with many of the great artists including: Nigel Kennedy, Shlomo Mintz, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Sreten Krstić, Ola Rudner, David Strange, Claudio Vandelli, Katarina Jovanović, Prof.Aleksandar Pavlović, Sophie Langdon, Stefan Milenković, Ištvan Varga, Alexander Sitkovetsky, Mateja Marinković etc. The BGO "Dušan Skovran" is the most famous and widely traveled string orchestra in former Yugoslavia, highly acclaimed by both public and press in the course of their international tours. The quality of its interpretations, brilliant virtuosity, tremendous ability to communicate, and personal dedication of each musician of the group are the keys to its success. One of the most intriguing features of the Belgrade Strings is its ‘soloistic’ potential: every member of the ensemble, being a first-class chamber musician, is also fully capable of playing as a soloist. The orchestra has given over 400 concerts abroad, in Great Britain, France, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Greece, Turkey, USA, China, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, former Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria and Macedonia, where all their concerts resulted in rave reviews. The ensemble, known in Serbia and Montenegro as the “Dušan Skovran” String Orchestra, after the name of its founder, the late Prof. Dušan Skovran, was originally formed in 1965 from the best string players in the Faculty of Music in Belgrade’s University of Arts. In addition to an extensive repertoire ranging from pre-classical through to 21st-century music, the Belgrade String Orchestra has premiered over 70 works written specially for them by Yugoslav composers.
