Mike has over 15 years of insolvency and restructuring experience and has been a Licensed Insolvency Trustee for more than 10 years. He has extensive experience in consumer restructurings with a primary focus on proposals and consumer proposals for business owners and other complex cases. He has successfully negotiated debt settlements with banks, credit unions, finance companies, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC), Canada Student Loans (NSLSC), BC Student Loans, and others. Mike currently serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the British Columbia Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (BCAIRP), is a member of the BC Bankruptcy Practice Committee and OSB-CRA-CAIRP Liaison Committee, volunteers as a facilitator with CPA Canada Financial Literacy, and is a regular writer and speaker on insolvency topics. He has made contributions in the areas of: - amendments to the licensing framework for trustees in bankruptcy (now Licensed Insolvency Trustees); - amendments to the insolvency counselling directive; - insolvency and family law; and - consumer proposal trends and Canada Revenue Agency issues. Mike was the recipient of the J.L. Biddell Award for Academic Excellence for Highest Achievement on the 2006 National Insolvency Exam.
