I worked in Dr. Leyla Soleymani's research group during two summer research terms and a thesis project. My first project involved developing an ultra-sensitive DNA sensor using semiconductor nanowires. Then, during my thesis project, I developed a novel method for rapidly patterning micro-electrodes using semiconductor nanoparticles. I worked with Dr. Ayse Turak's research group to study lithium fluoride nanoparticle coatings and their applications in enhancing the efficiency of organic solar cells. I developed computer programs to process batches of SEM images, and to characterize the coatings using spatial statistics. These findings were published in Thin Solid Films (Volume 559, Pages 58 - 63). I also spent time performing various jobs for Dr. John Preston's research group. These included designing and constructing a high-temperature furnace, fabricating parts for a photoreflectance system, and other tasks related to research in photovoltaics. Show less
