I am responsible for the operation, maintenance, engineering and asset management of the Drax Hydro fleet in Scotland. This fleet includes Cruachan Pumped Storage, and the Galloway and Lanark Hydro sites. The role includes the responsibility for the people management and development, the CAPEX and OPEX budgets together with ensuring the optimum performance of the sites. The station was an ageing site, and I had to manage the condition and asset management issues for the site. This role included the management of the capital budget and 35 employees. This role was to set the engineering direction of the site and ensured that the site had necessary improvement projects to improve the site overall performance.

This included the replacement of large generator transformers, the uprating of hydro pumped storage power plant by 20%, the replacement of a variety of switchgear and the implementation of an Electrical Improvement programme.
