I began at Peace Tower Church as the Young Adults and campus pastor, responsible for our growing young adults ministry at the church for anyone aged 18-30 as well as a campus ministry at Carleton University, started and supported by the church. After a year, I also took on the youth ministry for students from grades 7-12. My responsibilities included running weekly evening meetings for each ministry with interactive preaching and teaching, worship, games, and small groups. The small groups were led by volunteer leaders that I was responsible to recruit, train, and communicate with frequently. After about a year or two, both the young adults and youth groups grew from about 15 to about 35 students in each. I also organized and led retreats, conferences, and special events including evangelistic street outreaches. Other responsibilities included preaching twice a year on a Sunday morning, helping to organize church events, playing drums in the worship team, creating and coordinating church media, and overseeing and creating a new media team. After four years, I was promoted to the Associate Pastor role. My first task was to hire on my replacement for youth and young adults ministry. I was directly in charge of the church office, held oversight of church finances and communicated between the pastor's council and the church bookkeeper, participated in council meetings, taught adult med-week series, preached about every six weeks, organized church events, and oversaw volunteer teams including media and security. After our youth and young adult pastor left during the pandemic, I was in charge of our young adults ministry again while another volunteer led the youth.
