      Placed on the Analytical and Physical section of the Chemistry department. Responsibilities were to conduct chemical and physical analysis on test substances. During the internship three project were assigned and completed. The main project was to investigate the possibilities of a thermogravimetic analyzer connected to a fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer. The two additional projects were the risk assesment of working with anesthetics; and determining temperature fluctuation in storage fridges and freezers.       Deployed on the Mineral Oil team on the Organic department. Responsibilities were to conduct routine analysis of mineral oils in earth and water samples. The internship project was to develop a gas chromatograpy method to determine polar solvents in waste water samples. After the internship a colleauge took up the method validation and used the same system method to validate earth samples. Most used techniques: gas chromatography, flame ionisation detector. cold on column injection, PTV-valve injection, direct sample injection. Show less
