As a foreman at Axis, I worked in new construction, carried out renovations and I also performed service work, making use of and maintaining the service van. I completed a range of jobs, from one-day service to high-profile, large- scale jobs that lasted over two years.

My duties as an electrician at Axis involved installing and servicing data and communications wiring and low voltage devices. I began working as a late-term apprentice with Axis, where I filled out my expertise, learning from telecom technicians, and electricians more about the data/communications part of the electrical trade. In 2006, I briefly left Axis to finish the last six months of my electrical apprenticeship. After returning to Axis in 2007, I took over a service van and continued to perform service duties and work in new construction. Some of my duties included supervision and hands-on rough-in wiring, termination, labeling, documentation, testing and trouble-shooting of extra-low voltage systems. I showed high levels of proficiency in structured cabling, and a good ability to install cables for cameras, security systems and audio/visual systems. I also have experience running and terminating fiber optic cable.

I finished work as an apprentice and started my time as a certified electrician at this company, and learned from industrial electricians about the heavy duty requirements of the individuals who work in this field. I was involved in the service of conveyors and placement of electrical devices, in some of the difficult and dangerous areas that these electricians and workers face daily. I did the first year of my apprenticeship working on the construction of highrises. I spent a great deal of time doing labour, and learned about the essential requirements for becoming an electrician.
