As a senior software developer working at Finastra, I have had the pleasure of working for Mike for the past 16 years. He is a driven, organized individual who as a manager would lead by example. But as a lead developer would also help his direct reports learn new technologies. Mike has always been driven to develop his skills. When he saw the company leaning towards using an API methodology he learned the Swagger API documentation techniques which are being used today. Mike then shared the knowledge of Swagger documentation techniques pointing out the important details. Mike embraces any opportunity for professional development, which makes him an ideal leader. With Mike leading and teaching the fundamental tenets of the Agile methodology to us, our group was one of the first teams to embrace and use the Agile principles. We were able to transform from a traditional waterfall model to using the new Agile principles. We began delivering software more frequently with high quality and with continuous attention to technical excellence and good design. The team learned to trust each other and learned that it was more productive to ask for help than struggle with difficult user stories. With Mike's guidance as Scrum Master and lead developer he guided us to a good cadence of software delivery and delivering software that Product management needed for our customers. Mike has a great rapport with people of all ages. His ability to connect with his direct reports and his talent at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior.
