Bio
Paul Sander
Mike and I were individual contributors at HAL Computer Systems in the first half of the 1990's. We performed similar roles as toolsmiths, he for microprocessor design and I for software. I invented some useful change control primitives to perform handoff, integration, and reversion of changes in baseline builds, tightly integrated with version control and defect tracking. Mike took those primitives to their potential and implemented a terrific methodology that guaranteed good nightly builds (by removing broken changes submitted since the prior good build) while optimizing disk usage. The defect tracking system automatically tracked the state of the tickets that were related to the good and bad changes. His methods greatly improved the efficiency of the development of the chip designs and won him much praise within the organization. Mike was also great to work with: Personable, communicated well, very technically competent. It was a pleasure to work with him.

Mike was in my coaching program for five years and grew tremendously as a leader who brings complete fairness and incredible skills to the engineering team at Sonicwall, he manages the largest group in and has the most direct reports. Mike is an incredibly honest and well liked leader who listens and delivers products that receive awards in the marketplace year after year. He is an incredible resource to the company, and deserving of high praise.
