I have been a journalist since 1984, and was a student journalist from end of 1980 to October 1984. I have held numerous posts starting with the Evening Post in 84, to Vukani News Agency in 85, Port Elizabeth News to 88, Sunday Star, Financial Mail and City Press (deputy-chief sub-editor), then East Cape News Agencies (Ecna) Group Editor from 95 to 97 and owner/editor of East Cape News from 98 to 2007. I started and sold Grahamstown Shoppa between 2003 and 2006, started and closed Makana Moon between 2007 and 2011. I have been a radio correspondent for Algoa FM for 16 years. "Moon" was an independent, free, community news site serving Grahamstown and Makana in the Eastern Cape. It started on 1 November 2007 in print and after three years of weekly publication, I got tired and moved into blogging and the website. Hits in less than a year? 96 000. Moon provided an alternative view on politics and community. I closed it down in March, 2012 and took up a post at the Daily Dispatch.
